What is NIISQ (National Injury Insurance Scheme Queensland)?

The National Injury Insurance Scheme Queensland (NIISQ) provides lifetime care and support funding for people who sustain serious injuries in Queensland motor vehicle accidents. It covers medical treatment, rehabilitation, personal care, equipment, assistive technology and home modifications, and operates separately from the CTP insurance scheme, with a focus on lifelong recovery.

NIISQ is a government program designed to ensure that people with catastrophic injuries receive ongoing support, rehabilitation services, and long term care following a transport accident in Queensland.

Eligible participants may receive a range of services including medical treatment, hospital care, rehabilitation therapies, personal care assistance, and support with daily activities at home or in the community.

The scheme also provides equipment, assistive technology, and home modifications to support independence. NIISQ operates separately from the CTP insurance scheme and focuses on lifelong recovery support.
