What is a Home Care Package?
A Home Care Package (HCP) is a government-funded program designed to provide older Australians with the support they need to live independently at home. It offers a range of services, including personal care, nursing, domestic assistance, meal preparation, transport, and social support, tailored to each individual’s needs.
Am I Eligible for a Home Care Package?
To qualify for a Home Care Package, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be aged 65 years or older (or 50 years or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander individuals).
- Require assistance with daily activities due to aging, illness, or disability.

There are four levels of Home Care Packages, each providing different levels of funding and support:

- Level 2 – Low-level care needs (e.g., personal care, meal assistance).
- Level 3 – Intermediate care needs (e.g., nursing, allied health services).

How Long Will It Take to Be Allocated a Home Care Package?
Wait times vary based on demand, but typically:
- Level 1 and 2 packages: 3–12 months
- Level 3 and 4 packages: 12+ months

What Will a Home Care Package Cost?
