Support every step of the way
When it’s time to begin looking for the right aged care home, we can assist you through the process.
Step 1 – Complete an Aged Care Assessment
Call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 to arrange an ACAT assessment.
This will help to determine your needs and eligibility to receive funding towards the cost of care.
Step 2 – Work out any contributions
It’s important to understand the payment options and subsidies available when it comes to residential aged care.
If you are looking for a permanent home, you’ll also need to complete a financial assessment with Services Australia to determine how much you may need to contribute towards your accommodation.
Step 3 – Find your home
Finding the right home can be a big decision. We’d love you to take a tour of our home and talk with our residential manager about your specific care needs and what matters to you most.
As a resident you’ll have access to our dedicated team, all working together to support your wellbeing.
Step 4 – Apply for admission
When you have found your preferred home and received your assessment from My Aged Care it’s time to complete your application for entry into residential aged care.
Simply contact our friendly admissions team on 1300 668 655 and we can guide you through the process including any of the documentation you will need.
Step 5 – Seek advice
Before signing an agreement to enter residential aged care, it’s a good idea for you to seek independent advice from a specialised aged care financial advisor. As an impartial advisor, they can guide you on the best payment options and arrangements for your individual circumstances.
Step 6 – Move and settle in
When it’s time to move into your new home, we’ll work with you and your family to settle in and personalise your home.
Our team will help you with the transition, with services and activities centred around your needs, interests, abilities and choices.

Basic Daily Fee
Everyone pays a basic daily fee, which covers meals, cleaning, and day-to-day services. As of 2025, this fee is set at 85% of the single age pension rate, currently $63.82 per day.
Means-Tested Care Fee
This fee is based on your income and assets, and it contributes to your personal and clinical care. The exact amount is determined after a means assessment by Services Australia or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. The maximum means-tested care fee is capped annually and over a lifetime.
Accommodation Costs
Depending on your means assessment, you may pay the full cost, a contribution, or nothing for your accommodation. Costs vary by provider and room type, and government assistance may be available if you meet certain criteria.
Additional Services Fees
Some homes offer extra services or premium rooms at an additional cost. These vary by provider and are discussed during your selection process.
Steps to Calculate Your Aged Care Facility Costs
Gather Financial Information
Collect details about your income, assets, and any government support payments.
Use the Fee Estimator
The My Aged Care Fee Estimator is an online tool where you enter your financial details to get an estimate of your likely fees for both home care and residential aged care.
Request a Means Assessment
For an exact figure, apply for a formal means assessment through Services Australia. This will determine your eligibility for government assistance and set your maximum fees.
Consult Providers
Once you have an estimate, discuss with aged care homes in Camberwell to compare room prices, extra services, and payment options.
